Learn how to locate a person from a death record of a deceased relative of the missing person.

You need the following four pieces of information when searching for a death record:

  • The name of the person you're doing a person search on
  • The name of the deceased relative of the person missing
  • The approximate date and the place of death of the deceased relative

Search the death record of the missing person's deceased relative

Look for a death record of the deceased grandparent, parent, or other relative of the missing person your doing a person search on. You'll find death records at the state vital statistics office. Probate records show the names and addresses of those provided for in the will. And the missing person could be listed. The obiturary may list your missing person as a survivor and mention the city and/or state where he or see lives. Newspapers keep files of all back issues.
